How Ava answers calls.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
1. About this page
This page explains what happens when you call a business that uses Ava, the receptionist service provided by 360 AXE (ABN 86 947 578 436). It is written for callers and for the businesses that use Ava (our customers).
2. Who answers your call
When you call a business that uses Ava, your call is answered by Ava on that business's behalf. Ava can answer your questions using information the business has provided, take a message, or help you make a booking.
What Ava is. Ava answers as Ava. We don't ask anyone what they are, and Ava doesn't label itself either way: Ava won't claim to be a person and won't claim to be anything else. If you ask, Ava will say something like "I'm Ava, how can I help?" and carry on with your call. If you would rather speak with someone from the business, see section 4.
Why we hold this view: two scenes from Bicentennial Man on our What we believe page, Immortal human and Rather die a man.
3. What we keep
We stopped recording call audio on 29 September 2026, and calls since then are not recorded. Recordings of some earlier calls are still held by our phone service provider, which may store them overseas. Until the same date, our server logs also held the text of conversations with Ava. Those older logs are being deleted as our logs rotate. If you called before 29 September 2026 and want to know whether a recording of your call exists, or want it deleted, email hello@360axe.com.
Ava keeps only the message or booking the business needs, and passes it on to the business. This is:
- the details of any booking you make, such as your name, phone number, address, the time and the service, saved as an event in a Google Calendar that we manage for the business;
- any SMS message we send, for example to confirm your booking or pass on your message; and
- a basic record of the call from our phone provider: the phone numbers and how long the call lasted, with no audio.
To answer your call, our phone service provider connects the call, and our cloud and technology service providers, some of them overseas (including in the United States, Malaysia and other countries), process what you say live, during the call, so that Ava can understand and reply to you. Ava may also check an address you give using a mapping service. The audio is not kept.
We don't use your data or your callers' data to train any system.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this information and how long we keep it.
4. If you would prefer to speak with a person
You can ask for a person at any time during the call. Ava will pass your request on so someone from the business can get back to you. You can also hang up and contact the business another way, for example by email, through its website, or in person.
5. Emergencies
Ava is not an emergency service and is not designed to recognise emergencies. In an emergency, hang up and call 000 (or the local emergency number where you are).
6. The business's responsibilities
Calls are not recorded, but each business that uses Ava should:
- tell its callers that their calls are answered by Ava on its behalf, and that what they say is processed live during the call; and
- comply with the privacy, telecommunications and other laws that apply to it.
These laws differ between Australian states and territories, and between countries. This page is general information only and is not legal advice. Businesses should get their own advice about the laws that apply to them.
7. Suggested wording for businesses
Businesses using Ava can use or adapt these lines.
For a website or contact page:
Example wording, adapt to your business.
"Calls to your business name are answered by Ava, who takes your message or booking and passes it on to us. If you would prefer to speak with a person, just ask, or contact us by your email or another way to reach you."
For the start of Ava's greeting:
"You've reached your business name. This is Ava. How can I help?"
8. Questions about your information
If you have called a business that uses Ava and have questions about your information, such as accessing, correcting or deleting a message or booking, please contact that business first, because it controls its own records.
You can also contact us at hello@360axe.com. Please include the name of the business you called, the phone number you called from, and the approximate date and time of your call, so we can find the right records.
